BACKGROUND: In this fictional tale, a young printer
sparks a conversation with Thomas Jefferson as
Jefferson writes the Declaration of Independence.
PASSAGE
"Sir, may I take a look at the document you are
writing?" asked Thomas Winthrop.
"Be careful. I must submit this document to
Congress tomorrow for review," replied Thomas
Jefferson.
Wintrop read the words. "This document shall
restore the benevolence and refine the sentiments of the
colonists. It shall banish all injustice."
