The 13 original colonies were involved in a host of activities. One such activity was agriculture which was what the Middle colonies focused on and they made enough food to feed the colonies. There was also an abundance of fish and wildlife.

Due to these various economic activities, various people moved to the colonies to have a better life. With more food to cater for population growth and with more people coming to the colonies, the population increased.

In conclusion, the natural resources of the colonies led to an increase in population as a result of agriculture and immigration.
