The Arts and Crafts Movement was largely fueled by the Industrial Revolution, in which everything was mass produced. More and more artists wanted to return to handcrafted objects that were unique. During this period, machinery produced goods were dominating the market. Many artists disapproved of this because they considered machines as "soulless, repetitive, and inhuman."
