The main action of the fibularis longus is to evert the foot. Fibularis longus is a superficial muscle in the lateral compartment of the leg, and its main function is to evert and plantarflex the ankle. The muscle originates at the head and the upper body of the fibula and the intermuscular septa. It inserts at the plantar side of the medical cuneiform and first metatarsal bone.
